From a support standpoint, both the Infant Mbereko and the Infant Gogo provide the same support for your baby. They share the exact same panel, wide waistband, patented Torso Support Strap, and overall design philosophy, so the way they support your baby and distribute weight through your body is the same.

The difference is in the shoulder straps.

The Gogo has 3-inch-wide straps with padding over the shoulders. They are still long straps (88”), just like the Mbereko, so you still have plenty of room to customize your fit. Many parents enjoy the familiar backpack feel while still having the versatility of longer straps.

The Mbereko also has 88” straps, but they are 17 inches wide. Those wide wrap straps can be spread across a much larger surface area of your shoulders, upper back, and torso, allowing you to fine-tune how the load is distributed. Many parents describe this as feeling lighter because the pressure is spread over a larger area rather than being concentrated in one place.

Neither carrier is more supportive than the other. They simply offer two different shoulder strap styles to suit different preferences while providing the same support for your baby.

Regarding the pelvic floor, I think the conversation is often simplified to “this carrier is better than that one.” As an occupational therapist, I see it a little differently.

Pelvic floor comfort isn’t determined by a single feature. It’s the result of how your whole body manages pressure.

Our carriers were intentionally designed with multiple points of support. Two features I’m particularly passionate about are the waistband and the Torso Support Strap. The waistband helps anchor the carrier at the pelvis, and the Torso Support Strap functions almost like an extension of that waistband creating a continuous support system that wraps the torso and directs load into the hips rather than allowing it to hang from the shoulders. This is what truly sets our design apart. By reducing reliance on the shoulders, we help prevent the common compensations that can increase downward pressure through the abdomen and pelvic floor. Instead, the load is shared through the stronger, more stable structures of the pelvis and torso, supporting more efficient pressure management throughout the core. Rather than sitting primarily on the softer tissues of the abdomen which can increase downward pressure in some carrying positions the Babue waistband is designed to sit on the bony pelvis (the iliac crests). It is also tall enough to comfortably position a newborn at a kissable height while allowing the pelvis to help bear the load.

If a carrier concentrates too much weight through the shoulders, many parents naturally compensate by leaning backward, flaring the ribs, or changing their breathing pattern. Those compensations can influence how pressure is managed throughout the core and pelvic floor.

So for me, the conversation has never been about whether one style of shoulder strap is inherently “better.” It’s about creating a system where the waistband, torso support, shoulder straps, and your body all work together to distribute load as efficiently as possible.
